Is it just me or did it suddenly become really hot overnight? Well, that just means that summer is upon us here in the East Coast and I'm very excited because summer is my favorite season! The sun is out longer, there's more light to shoot photos, there's more time to be out with friends and there's just more fun things to do! But of course, summer isn't all fun and games if we stay outside unprotected from the sun's harmful rays. We should always remember to protect and take care of our skin, so today, I'm going to share with you my current summer skincare regimen!
I've recently started using a few CeraVe products and they have been essentials in both my morning and evening skincare routine. I love that CeraVe is developed by dermatologists, their products are non-irritating and fragrance-free, and mostly are non-comodogenic as well.
You can purchase CeraVe products from your local Walmart. You can find the skincare items (the cleansers and moisturizers) at the Personal Care aisle. The Sunscreen Face Lotion can be found at the Sun Care aisle.
STEP 1: Cleanse
Before anything else, I like to cleanse my face right after I wake up! Washing my face helps me wake me up so much faster and I just love the feeling of a clean and fresh face in the morning! So in the morning, I like to use my CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser because I have combination (oily on my T-zone, normal everywhere else) skin.
I love this facial cleanser because it removes dirt and excess oils while replenishing ceramides.
"What are ceramides?" you may ask.
Ceramides help moisture, restore, and maintain our skin's natural protective function, but over time, these ceramides run low. CeraVe contains Niacinamide which helps produce more natural ceramides for healthier skin. This facial wash also has Hyaluronic acid and this ensures that our skin remains soft and hydrated after every wash!
It's important to use products that will keep our skin's natural moisture especially on days when we'll be exposed to the sun. Healthy skin is a must for me in the summer months!
1. Wet face with warm water.
2. Massage CeraVe Foaming Facial cleanser all over the face. I love how gentle this facial wash is! It doesn’t sting my eyes.
3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water!
4. Feel how clean and soft your face is! 💖
Unlike the Foaming Facial Cleanser, this one is thicker in consistency and it doesn't really foam up. I like how this feels a little tingly on my face and although this is fragrance-free, it has a very nice clean smell to it which I can't explain! I just love it!
STEP 2: MOISTURIZE
I always moisturize my skin after cleansing, especially in the hotter months. I love using the AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion because not only does it keep my skin moisturized, it also protects it from the sun because it has SPF 30. This moisturizer is also available in PM which is suitable for a night time regimen.
I have used this underneath makeup and I've noticed that my makeup stayed on a lot longer.
STEP 3: PROTECT
Sunscreen is very important and I have to admit that I've only started to use sunscreen a few weeks ago! I didn't realize how essential it is for the skin until my face got sunburnt all because I didn't put sunscreen before getting exposed to the sun! It was a terrible experience so now, whenever I need extra protection, I use CeraVe's Sunscreen Face Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 50! It has a slight thickness to its consistency but it feels lightweight on the skin.
This is also water resistant (for 40 minutes) so it's perfect if you're going to the beach!
After I take care of my face, I move on to caring for my body! To avoid feeling dry and dull, I use CeraVe's Moistuzing Cream all over my body. Although this is very thick, my skin absorbs the cream fairly quickly and it doesn't feel sticky at all!
How about you? How do you take care of your skin during the hot summer months? I would love to know your secret!
PS: Thanks to my husband for helping me with the photos! 💖
